Designed for CPD providers, industry associations and employers, NCC CPD helps you create, update or supplement CPD activities efficiently, while maintaining confidence that your content is technically accurate and up-to-date.  

Access is provided at no cost, subject to approval and Terms and Conditions (see below).

What is NCC CPD, and what can I use it for?

Who is NCC CPD designed for?

How is NCC CPD different from NCC Tutor?

NCC CPD supports industry-based professional development. It provides short, modular, adaptable learning resources that CPD providers, industry bodies and employers can use to support existing CPD activities.   

NCC Tutor is designed for formal education delivery. It supports educators in RTOs, TAFEs and universities delivering structured, curriculum-aligned training.  

Are NCC CPD micromodules accredited or endorsed?

No. NCC CPD micromodules are not accredited courses. They are technically accurate learning resources that you can use to support CPD activities you develop and deliver. They cannot be used for individual practitioners to earn CPD points or professional accreditation.  

Who can apply for access to NCC CPD?

Organisations and individuals that develop and deliver continuing professional development may apply for access to NCC CPD, including CPD providers, industry associations, and employers delivering inhouse training. Access is subject to the Terms and Conditions. 

How do I get access to NCC CPD materials?

To get access, review the Terms and Conditions below and submit an online request explaining your organisation and CPD needs. Once approved, you’ll receive an email with access to the NCC CPD resources and micromodules. 

Do I need to be an approved CPD provider to apply?

No. You do not need to be a formally approved CPD provider. Organisations and individuals that develop and deliver CPD activities may apply, subject to the Terms and Conditions. 

Is there a cost to access NCC CPD materials?

Access to NCC CPD materials is provided at no cost, subject to approval and compliance with the Terms and Conditions. 

Can I use NCC CPD micromodules as part of an existing CPD activity?

Yes. NCC CPD micromodules can be used on their own or integrated into existing CPD activities, subject to the Terms and Conditions and required attribution. 

How long does approval take?

We aim to respond to access requests within 10 business days. We may contact you if further information is required. 

Can I adapt the materials?

Yes. You may adapt the materials in line with the scope outlined in the Terms and Conditions. You must include the required attribution, and some restrictions may apply. 

No. Your access link is for your organisation’s use only. Please direct colleagues to submit their own request via the ABCB website. 

How often is NCC CPD content updated?

NCC CPD materials are reviewed and updated as required to reflect changes to the NCC and related guidance. 

Will you contact me about feedback or new content?

Yes. You may be invited to provide feedback through short surveys, and you can opt in to receive occasional updates about new NCC CPD releases.

Licence to use ABCB material (NCC CPD) 

Introduction 

This licence agreement is for use of material set out in 13.1 of the Licence Details (ABCB Material). 

The Commonwealth (as represented by the Office of the Australian Building Codes Board) acting on behalf of the Commonwealth of Australia, the State of New South Wales, State of Queensland, State of Victoria, State of South Australia, State of Tasmania, State of Western Australia, the Australian Capital Territory and the Northern Territory, ABN 74 599 608 295 (ABCB Office) agrees to allow access to a Licensee to use the ABCB Material subject to the Licensee complying with the terms of this agreement.  

This licence agreement sets out how the Licensee may use the ABCB Material among other responsibilities.  

Licence 

  1. Subject to the terms of this licence agreement, the ABCB Office grants to the Licensee a non-exclusive and revocable licence to use the ABCB Material: 
  1. subject to displaying the Acknowledgement and Attribution (if any) set out in 13.2 alongside the ABCB Material;  
  1. subject to the Licence Limitations (if any) set out in 13.3 
  1. for the Licensed Purpose set out in 13.4 
  1. in accordance with the Term of Licence set out in 13.7 
  1. in accordance with the Additional Terms (if any) set out in 13.8 
  1. If specified ‘Permitted’ in 13.5, the above licence also allows the Licensee to sub-license the ABCB Material to other persons, subject to them complying with the terms referred to in paragraphs 1.1 to 1.5 above, and the Licensee and any sublicensees complying with any Sub-licence Limitations set out in 13.6. 

Requirements 

  1. When the Licensee uses the ABCB Material, it must (and must ensure that all other persons who use the ABCB Material on behalf of or through the Licensee do): 
  1. only use the ABCB Material in accordance with all applicable laws; and  
  1. not register or seek to register any intellectual property rights (for example, trade marks) in respect of the ABCB Material. 
  1. When the Licensee uses the ABCB Material, it must (and must ensure that all other persons who use the ABCB Material on behalf of or through the Licensee do), except as otherwise specifically provided in 13.4 or 13.8: 
  1. only use the ABCB Material in the media or format in which it is provided to the Licensee; 
  1. use the ABCB Material without alteration; and 
  1. if requested by the ABCB Office, destroy or return the ABCB Material to the ABCB Office. 

Acknowledgment  

  1. You acknowledge and agree on behalf of the Licensee that:  
  1. the Licensee understands and agrees to the disclaimer set out in paragraphs 7 and 8 of this licence agreement; 
  1. the Licensee is not, by this licence agreement, authorised to use any intellectual property owned by the ABCB Office other than the ABCB Material listed in 13.1; 
  1. nothing in this licence agreement assigns or transfers ownership of any of the intellectual property rights in the ABCB Material to the Licensee or any other person;  
  1. the ABCB may issue minor corrections or updates to the ABCB Material, and the Licensee agrees to correct and/or update any derivatives made from the ABCB Material; and 
  1. all rights not expressly granted by the ABCB Office through this licence agreement are reserved. 

Moral Rights  

  1. The author(s) of the ABCB Material may hold ‘moral rights’ as defined in the Copyright Act 1986 (Cth). This means the Licensee must:  
  1. attribute (give credit to) the author(s) or creator(s) of this ABCB Material if specified in 13.2; 
  1. not say a person is the author or creator of the ABCB Material if they are not; and 
  1. not do something with the ABCB Material (such as change or add to it) that would have a negative impact on the reputation of the author(s) or creator(s) of the ABCB Material. 

You and the Licensee are advised that failure to comply with those obligations so may constitute a breach of the Copyright Act 1986 (Cth).  

Disclaimer 

  1. The ABCB Material is being provided by the ABCB Office for use by the Licensee free of charge and on an ‘as is’ basis. The ABCB Office does not guarantee, and accepts no legal liability whatsoever arising from or connected to, the use of or reliance on any views, recommendations or other information expressed by or on behalf of the ABCB Office in the ABCB Material (if applicable). 
  1. Further, laws, practices and regulations may have changed since the ABCB Material was created. The Licensee should make its own inquiries as to the currency of any relevant laws, practices and regulations that may have changed since the creation of the ABCB Material. 
  1. Additionally, the ABCB Office gives no warranty as to the correctness of the information contained in ABCB Material, or its suitability for use by the Licensee. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the ABCB Office: 
  1. is not liable for any statement or opinion, or for any error or omission, contained in the ABCB Material; 
  1. disclaims all warranties with regard to the information contained in the ABCB Material including, without limitation, all implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose; and 
  1. is not liable for any direct, indirect, special or consequential losses or damages of any kind, or loss of profit, loss or corruption of data, business interruption or indirect costs, arising out of or in connection with the use of the ABCB Material or the information contained in it, whether such loss or damage arises in contract, negligence, tort, under statute, or otherwise. 

Termination 

  1. The licence to the ABCB Material may be terminated in the following circumstances: 
  1. by both parties by mutual agreement; 
  1. by ABCB if the Licensee breaches a material term of this Agreement and fails to rectify the breach within 30 calendar days of the date of notice from the ABCB requiring rectification of the breach; 
  1. by ABCB by written notice if an insolvency event occurs in relation to the Licensee, with an insolvency event occurring if the Licensee has a liquidator, receiver, administrator or other controller appointed or an equivalent appointment is made under legislation other than the Corporation Act 2001 (Cth). 
  1. In the event of termination under clause 10, all rights of the Licensee granted under this Agreement terminate: 
  1. on the date agreed by the parties under clause 10.1; or 
  1. at the end of the time period described in clause 10.2; or 
  1. immediately following an insolvency event described in clause 10.3. 

and the Licensee must immediately cease to print, publish, make, produce, communicate to the public or use in any manner whatsoever the ABCB Material and must deliver up to ABCB all copies of the ABCB Material in the possession, custody or control of the Licensee.  

Jurisdiction 

  1. The law of the Australian Capital Territory applies to these terms and each party irrevocably and unconditionally submits to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that jurisdiction. 

Licence Details 

  1. The Licence Details of this agreement include the following terms:  
  1. ABCB Material - Continuing professional development (CPD) content consisting of a suite of PowerPoint slides on topics relating to the National Construction Code (NCC) issued under the NCC CPD program and any trade marks (registered or unregistered) that may be incorporated in the ABCB Material. 
  1. Acknowledgement and Attribution - The Licensee agrees to attribute the ABCB as the original author of the ABCB Material by including the attribution statement listed on the front cover of the ABCB Material on any derivative material created by the Licensee. Attribution statement: © Commonwealth of Australia and the States and Territories of Australia, published by the Australian Building Codes Board. 
  1. Licence Limitations - The ABCB Material must not be used for any purpose other than the Licensed Purpose. 
  1. Licensed Purpose - Use of the ABCB Material for the purpose of commercialisation, delivery and distribution of educational materials including CPD products. The ABCB Material may be delivered in any format and modified for the purposes of interpretation and contextualisation of the NCC or to suit the delivery method. 
  1. Sub-licence – Not permitted 
  1. Sub-licence Limitations – Not applicable 
  1. Terms of licence - This licence comes into effect on the date the Licensee agreed to the terms of this agreement. 
  1. Additional terms - The Licensee agrees to:  
  1. provide the ABCB a copy of the final content created from the ABCB Material if requested, 
  1. provide feedback on the relevance and usefulness of the ABCB Material by completing surveys as requested by the ABCB, and 
  1. create and deliver any derivatives of the ABCB Material in line with principle 1 of the ABCB’s Model guidance for CPD on the NCC and ethics (Building Confidence Report recommendation)

Agreement 

If you agree, on your own behalf and on behalf of a Licensee to be bound by the terms of this agreement, please select ‘Agree’ at the bottom of this agreement.  

A copy of this licence agreement will be provided to the Licensee for their records. 

If the Licensee does not agree to the terms of this agreement, it is not permitted to use the ABCB Material.If the Licensee uses the ABCB Material without agreeing to the terms of this licence agreement, it will be taken to have accepted that it has understood and agreed to be legally bound by these terms. 

NCC CPD is designed to support industry‑based professional development.  

If you teach in an RTO, TAFE or university and deliver accredited or curriculum‑aligned training, NCC Tutor may be more suitable.
